Latest Updates from Our Project:

Songs and Pins and Dice, Oh My!
about 1 month ago – Fri, Nov 05, 2021 at 08:39:20 PM

Hello, all you lovely backers! I can't believe we're over a month away from when you all helped me back this awesome album!

Action Items!

Some of you still haven't filled out the backerkit survey! If you don't fill it out, how will I know how and where to get you your stuff?!? It'll take you one minute, maayyyybeee two. Please do this... For me? Click here to make me very happy!

Songs!

I've crafted a cool medley video to show you the progress of four of the songs so far. None of them are fully mastered, but you'll get the gist. Maxi is amazing. Also, there are actually two more songs that have tracks and vocals, but those are not quite ready to share, yet! That means only four songs left to go plus one acoustic version of one of the songs (we still haven't decided which, yet).

Merch!

The pins are here! The pins are here! We are still waiting on the dice, but the pins are here! I'd love to deliver everything to you all in one fell swoop (album, merch, digital items, etc), but we will see how that all tracks. I have the envelopes, the 4x6 art prints, and the enamel pins. The dice should get to me around early December, and then I will wait until after the holidays for shipping prices to drop back down before snail mailing you your good stuff! In the meantime, feast your eyes on this cute pin! Behold! Her pin!

Thanks again!

Y'all are so wonderful--thanks again for making this whole dang thing possible! I'm having a such a fun time working on this album. In the last month, my life has changed immensely, for both good and bad, but that's what growth looks like, isn't it? Writing and playing songs for myself in my home is one of my favorite modes of self care so I'm leaning on my ukulele as a friend right now.

As a self-proclaimed lover of words, the best part of songwriting is lyric-writing! I love finding rhymes and internal rhymes and slant rhymes and playing with scansion.  It's super fun. I've even included a Tolkien line as a lyric in one song! I can't wait for y'all to hear what my brain has cooked up this last month. I hesitate to mention this, in case I change my mind and it doesn't wind up on the album, but... I'll just say these words without any verbs or promises attached: Dungeon Master Power Anthem. Do whatever you want to with that! Wahoo!

Happy Birthday to My Album and Look out for Backerkit surveys!
about 2 months ago – Sat, Oct 09, 2021 at 02:09:32 AM

Hello all you wonderful people!

It's been 14 days since the very successful end of the Behold Her Dreams Kickstarter, which means... I just got an email informing me that the money is on its way to me!

That means that I will be sending out very quick, short surveys to grab information on where and how I can best get your rewards to you. So keep an eye out for surveys from backerkit. (They will show up in your email that you provided to Kickstarter. Please let me know if you don't receive one by the end of next week.)

It also means... happy birthday to my album! My first stretch goal was reached, and my sister @buttercream.bokeh (IG) has crafted and decorated a beautiful cake inspired by the album's art. Behold! The album's Birthday Cake!

I wanted to give you a heads up on what the new and improved schedule will look like moving forward!

(as always, subject to change based on shipping and postage)

Week of October 10th: the Kickstarter money will be deposited to my account.

Early December: Amy receives both dice and pins (the dice will take 10 weeks from ordering)

Early January: Amy ships out physical merch (USPS is increasing prices over the holiday season, and I am looking to avoid the extra fees)

March: Early album release to Kickstarter backers

Later in March: Album/Music video release

Within 10 days of the release: Virtual Album Launch Party thanks to passing the final stretch goal!

We Did It! We Did It! 169% Funded
2 months ago – Mon, Sep 27, 2021 at 08:18:02 PM

Hi all of you! I'm so excited to announce that last Thursday, at the end of a delightful five-hour livestream full of games, friends, and family; my album became 169% funded!

And that's not all!

A few backers chose to donate directly to me, including Chris Trainor--at the producer level, which actually means that all stretch goals have been met, and my album is technically 191% funded! I will be directing a music video, and having a virtual launch party for the album once it's done!

Thank you to all of you who made this happen! I'm so happy and excited to get to work!

Behold Her Dreams, all stretch goals reached, 191% funded!

I am already getting started on fulfilling your rewards.

-We have backing tracks for 4 of the songs already, 3 are already mixed with vocals!

-The dice have already been ordered (they gave me a 10-week delivery estimate)!

-I will be working on ordering the pins this week!

-I will also be adding dice and pins as add-ons to your orders in case you want more merch!

-Look out for surveys requesting your shipping information! You'll be able to change your info up until mere days before I actually ship. I listed December 2022 as the reward timing, but I don't think it will take that long. I'll know more about deliverable time once I begin getting the merch in my hands and as the album takes shape!

What's better than one Amy?

*Two* Amys!

What's better than two Amys?

A happy, successful Amy who's totally confident in who she is as a human and an artist!

Not to get all weepy on you all, but seriously, you should know how big of a deal this whole campaign has been for me. My album is getting produced thanks to you, and this marks the first time a creative project of my own isn't coming out of my own pocket. Plus, pretty wizard pictures!

I couldn't be happier!

Kickstarter Wrap Party!

So, tomorrow being the last day (the Kickstarter officially ends Thursday Sept 23 at 7pm PT), I've planned a very special 5-hour-long twitch stream (from 2pm-7pm PT)! I want to spend time with you all, the collaborators on the project, and my friends and family. I just want everyone involved in a huge hours-long hug of my own making. You're welcome to attend.

For those of you who may not be familiar with streaming content, it's 100% free, and you can log in to add your voice and thoughts to chat or not! You can interact with me as much or as little as you like! Happy to have you any way you'd like to show up (and I'm secretly hoping to meet my final two stretch goals)!

In light of being a Boss, this will be streamed on my very own twitch channel, which, if you haven't been paying attention, has a lot of big Boss Mode + "Behold Her Dreams" Energy.

Details below.

You can follow my twitch channel and view tomorrow's stream here: twitch.tv/vorpahlsword

**I can't in good faith recommend you *subscribe* to the channel, however, as I don't have plans yet to make streams a regular thing I do. But following is free and low stakes and makes me feel pretty!

Shoutout to a friend!

My pal, David Crennen is launching his own Kickstarter for Skinny Minis for TTRPGs. It's a cheaper and easier way to play TTRPGs in a visual, tactile way, and I love them to death. He's technically doing this under the umbrella of his company, Dungeon in a Box, but to me, it's all David. He's such an inspiration to me as a fellow creative entrepreneur in the gaming space. Even though they're already a bajillion-percent funded, you'll probably just want to get your hands on the product--I'm especially stoked for the skinny mini *terrain*. Brilliant. You might even see a friend Vorpahl face on the page if you scroll just a little!

Final Week! Weird Al as Inspiration and the Pin & Dice Artist!
3 months ago – Wed, Sep 22, 2021 at 09:04:37 PM

We are in the final week of this thing, and I couldn't be more excited and proud of myself! Thank you to everyone who is helping to make my dreams a reality! I'm really hoping to get to the next stretch goal of directing a music video for one of the songs, so I'm not going to stop promoting anytime soon.
I officially end the Kickstarter on Thursday, Sept 23 at 7pm PT, and I've got a stream planned (on my own channel)!
I was going to write a whole blog about the number one inspiration for my music, Weird Al, but I thought I'd give myself (and you) a break, and give you a short video to watch. I just want to tell you that he is my favorite, and since I was seven years old, his music has helped me in so many ways including making friends and introducing me to comedy, music, and creativity in general. This video sums it up pretty nicely!
(Get you a girl who looks at you the way I look at Weird Al)

And I also want to shout out another collaborator for this campaign: Jordan Chow (@modernchow), the artist behind the dice and the enamel pins! He is a fantastic artist and friend I met through streaming, and he has supported so many streamers with his art.
He loves portraiture and character art in various forms of expressions, in fantasy garb or modern day looks and beyond. By day, Jordan is a concept artist and photo retoucher, often listening to or watching TTRPGs as he works. He is inspired by the players' and GM's creative characters, NPCs, and their collective storytelling, filling his head with new ideas to bring to life. He also dabbles in some basic animation, since some ideas need that extra bit to really make the idea sing.
When I was attempting to become a Twitch partner (a goal that I eventually let go), Jordan designed all of my emotes. I also commissioned him a few other times to provide a logo for my writer's group, Chef's Fist, and for D&D character art for a Christmas present for my all-woman home game. He takes my weird whimsical ideas and turns them into visual masterpieces. I have loved working with him over the years, and for those of you who have ordered pins and dice, you'll get your very own @modernchow designs to hold in your hands!
You can support Jordan for free by following him on Twitter: @modernchow

You can also reach out to him there for commission requests!
Here are his art samples that I will be using to order the pin and dice:
